POSITION SUMMARY: Work in conjunction with site Nurses and program Health Coordinator and Assistant Health Coordinator toward the goal of optimum health for young children enrolled at assigned classroom sites.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification as a CNA or Medical Assistant preferred but not required.  Two years of related experience, preferably working with children under age 5.  Knowledge of child and family health. CPR certification required; MAT certification preferred. A valid NYS driver license if assigned to multiple sites.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Using on-site nurses and Head Start program Health Coordinator and Assistant Health Coordinator for technical assistance, serve assigned preschoolers and their families as an advocate for child health, and assist assigned preschool classrooms with:

·preforming Health Screenings and vital signs as directed

·updating health information and data entry in My Head Start

·filing paperwork into student records/files

·managing inventory/replacing supplies in First Aid Backpacks

·Health Education in classrooms
