Head Start / Early Head Start Site Supervisor, Syracuse east side

LOCATION:  215 Bassett Street, Syracuse

SCHEDULE:  Weekdays 7:30am to 3:30pm, 52 weeks per year.  Paid leave includes all federal holidays and all school district breaks during the school year, plus additional accumulated paid leave.

STARTING PAY RANGE:  $27.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on amount of relevant experience and level of education.

QUALIFICATIONS:  At least one year of experience teaching children under age 5 in a large group setting, plus at least one year of supervisory experience.  A completed college-level degree in Early Childhood Education or in a related field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work in conjunction with the Site Management team to develop and maintain a calendar of events and activities, in order to facilitate the coordination of onsite program operations.

Make classroom observations on a regular basis, and monitor all transfers of children to and from classrooms.

Review weekly classroom plans, attend classroom planning sessions, hold classroom team conferences regularly, and review education folders of enrolled children a minimum of twice annually.

Provide training and technical assistance, annual performance evaluations, and on-going frequent communication to all site staff including regularly scheduled staff meetings.

Identify training needs of the education staff, and maintain records to document their growth and development.

Maintain confidentiality of all records and all matters relating to families of enrolled children.

Work with the Maintenance Department to ensure work requests are submitted in a timely manner, keeping the Facilities Manager appraised of all work done in the site.

Complete and submit all purchase requisitions for assigned site.

Plan, implement and document monthly fire drills for the building.

Serve as a resource to all state licensing representatives and health or fire inspectors who may visit the site.
