Family Support Assistant, Syracuse Eastside Family Resource Center

LOCATION:

202 South Beech Street, Syracuse

REPORTS TO:

Family and Youth Services Manager

SCHEDULE:

Weekdays, 12:00pm to 5:30pm, 52 weeks per year. May be required to work occasional additional hours including evenings or weekends for special center or community events.

STARTING PAY RATE:

$17.17 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent. At least six months of experience in social work or a related field, including experience working with at-risk families or children with special needs. Knowledge of resources available in the Syracuse area to assist families. A current New York State driver license with a clean driving record. Formal training in human services or family development helpful.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Advocate for families, and communicate with schools and other entities involved with children who attend the program. Refer families to other services as needed.
  2. Assist in planning and implementing after-school, summer, and other activities at the center as well as recreational or social outings. Serve as a chaperone for outings.
  3. Assist with transporting children when necessary, using a 12-passenger agency van. Meet children at the center as they are dropped off by bus or their families.
  4. Maintain family service records and document activities and outcomes for assigned children. Assist with program audits, evaluations, and surveys, and complete all required reports in a timely manner.
  5. Attend weekly center staff meetings, work cooperatively with other agency staff, and assist with supervising and training of volunteers.
  6. Attend various center and community events as directed.
