STARTING PAY RANGE:
$17.00 to $18.00 per hour
SCHEDULE:
Full-time, weekdays: 8am-4pm school days, 7am-3pm other days
LOCATION: 108 West Kennedy Street, Syracuse
SUMMARY: Perform administrative and clerical tasks within the Transportation Department office, as well as additional tasks in and around the garage bay area and outdoor lot. Requires occasional driving.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word, and Google Suites. Ability to type at least 30 wpm. At least one year of office administrative experience (fleet operations experience preferred but not required). A current NYS driver license with a clean driving record for the previous 18 months (CDL helpful but not required).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for locking building and outside lot and setting alarm at end of each workday.
- Physically walk through and inspect each school bus returning to garage.
- Review repair work orders generated by the mechanic each month, cross reference the receipt log and the inventory log for accuracy, and total each repair order.
- Schedule and track the purchase orders of vehicle repairs not performed in-house.
- Keep a receipt log of auto parts purchased and complete a monthly and yearly inventory.
- Produce GPS fuel increase reports for all buses, to submit to the fiscal department for payment.
- Maintain a digital and hardcopy files of all agency drivers and trained Head Start bus monitors.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets for all liquid and aerosol products utilized by the department.
- Perform various clerical tasks like maintaining accurate and organized DOT and vehicle files.
- Perform dispatch functions, greet visitors to the Transportation office in a welcoming manner, and appropriately answer and direct phone calls and messages to the proper staff.
- Assist with pickups and dropoffs of vehicles or other items.
- Assist with cleaning and disinfection throughout and around the garage building as needed.
