Insulation Crew Leader - Syracuse

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Candidate must have Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification as a Shell Specialist or the ability to obtain certification within one year.
    • High School diploma or GED and a minimum of three years of previous experience installing energy efficiency measures in residential housing.
    • Requires general carpentry skills with some supervisory experience.
    • Must be knowledgeable in regards to energy conservation techniques and the use of diagnostic equipment associated with completing comprehensive whole house energy audits.
    • Must be familiar with cellulose insulation blowing equipment and dense-pack insulation installation techniques and applications.
    • Must have a thorough understanding of blower door diagnostic techniques, thermal by-pass identification, thermal and pressure boundary identification.
    • Knowledge of building construction, building components and materials is required.
    • Requires the ability to make decisions in the field concerning best practices and work scope adjustments. Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients.
    • Candidate must be familiar with OSHA and EPA lead-safe worker practices and knowledge of OSHA job site requirements is necessary.
    • Experience in Microsoft Word and the ability to operate audit software is necessary.
    • Basic computer skills would be a benefit.
    • Good health is necessary as the job involves heavy lifting, reaching, stretching etc.
    • Current NYS driver license is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work closely with the Crew Supervisor in coordination and scheduling of assigned weatherization jobs.
  2. Supervise and work with crewmembers on site, following work scope instructions.
  3. Perform whole-house energy audits and post inspections as required.
  4. Responsible for accurate post blower door test results.
  5. Responsible for ensuring materials, tools and equipment needed for successful completion of assigned jobs are on the job site.
  6. Responsible for quality control of work performed, site cleanup and post inspection to determine if all tasks have been performed in accordance with best practices.
  7. Responsible for accurate completion of Material/Inventory forms when jobs are completed and accurate monthly inventory of assigned vehicles.
  8. Comply with all Program Safety Rules & Procedures to ensure the health and safety of self, co-workers and clients.
  9. Keep Energy & Housing Program vehicles and equipment storage room organized. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  10. Comply with Agency and Program rules and regulations.

STARTING PAY RANGE:  $20.00 to $23.00 per hour.

SCHEDULE:  Full-time and 52-weeks per year (not seasonal), weekdays 7:30am to 3:30pm.
