Home-Based Educator/Caseworker for families with children under age 5

LOCATION:  1125 West Genesee Street, Syracuse

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in Human Services, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field, plus a minimum of two years of experience working with children under age 5 and/or pregnant women. Must have a valid NYS driver license and have ability to travel during working hours and occasional weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain full enrollment of Head Start/Early Head Start children and pregnant women. Discuss with participating families the program requirements and provided services.
  2. Maintain weekly 90-minute home visits with enrolled families.
  3. Develop activities based on each child's assessment and identified family needs.
  4. Operate and maintain an agency vehicle daily in accordance with agency policies.
  5. Integrate all Head Start functional areas during each home visit, including Child Development, Health, Nutrition, Mental Health/Social Emotional Development, Family Development, and Community Development.
  6. Provide a safe, appropriate, learning environment in which children and parents can participate in a group socialization experience.
  7. Initiate case conferences that involve other program functional areas, as well as community agencies involved with the family.
  8. Complete required documentation in files and database in a timely manner.
