Health Advocate (non-LPN), Syracuse Head Start program
POSITION: HEALTH ADVOCATE
LOCATION: 215 Bassett Street, Syracuse
RESPONSIBLE TO: Health Coordinator
STARTING PAY RATE: $18.16 per hour
SCHEDULE: Full-time, 48 weeks per year
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification as a CNA or Medical Assistant strongly preferred but not required.
Two years of related experience, preferably working with children under age 5.
Knowledge of child and family health.
Ability to communicate with young children, parents, staff and professionals.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in team environment.
Computer data input skills.
Valid NYS driver license with ability to travel to various sites as needed.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
CPR certification required.
MAT certification preferred but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES;
Work in conjunction with site Nurses and program Health Coordinators toward the goal of optimum health for preschool children enrolled at assigned sites.
Assist with: preforming Health Screenings and vital signs, updating health information in database, filing paperwork, checking inventory of supplies, and Health Education activities in classrooms.
