SCHEDULE: Full-time, school days 7:30am to 3:30pm. Temporary unpaid layoff each summer with unemployment benefits, and paid leave for all school-year holidays and breaks plus additional accumulated paid leave.

STARTING PAY RANGE:  $20.92 to $23.54 per hour

LOCATION:  175 Hudson Street, Syracuse

QUALIFICATIONS:  LPN or RN currently licensed in New York State. Two years of related experience, preferably working with young children. Knowledge of child and family health, including prevention concepts, and experience with or an interest in learning skills such as hearing and vision testing.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Observe daily health status of assigned children, following up on problems noted with staff, parents and other professionals. Utilize Health Coordinator and Assistant Health Coordinator for technical assistance.
2. Perform required health screenings and maintain current physical and dental examination reports. Assist families in obtaining any identified medical care needed.
3. Serve as an advocate for child health.
4. Assist teachers in the preparation of children for various health procedures.
5. Responsible for maintaining current health records for designated site.
6. Teach positive health practices to staff, children and parents.
7. Promote environmental health and safety at designated site.
8. Perform home visits and family recruitment duties as needed.
9. Report incidents or concerns of child abuse and neglect.
